Medtrade awarded innovation grant to develop next generation haemostatic technology
Medtrade Products Ltd are proud to announce the successful award of an innovation and research project from the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium MTEC NCH – MTEC (mtec-sc.org). Despite fierce competition from numerous different companies, the U.S. Army Medical Material Development Activity (USAMMDA) selected Medtrade Products Ltd to create a product designed for military medical use, specifically to stop life threatening bleeding in the abdominal intracavitary region of patients who are delayed in receiving definitive surgical care.
This exciting development project will deliver an innovative product to be used throughout the US military emergency services and hospital for the control of major haemorrhaging in pre -hospital and hospital settings and at the point of injury, for serious life-threatening wounds.
The resulting product will be able to stop bleeding within minutes without the requirement of compression, be carried easily by front-line personnel (medics, corpsman, etc.) to be used in an austere environment while waiting transport to a surgical center.
Russ Mably, Medtrade CEO commented “We are delighted to receive this award and look forward to utilising our 20 plus years’ experience to develop the next generation non-compressible haemostat technology to improve medical care across pre-hospital, and hospital settings”.
