Medtrade launches Silicone Wound Contact Layer (SWCL)

Designed for ease of application and help minimise pain at dressing change for patients, Medtrade’s double sided silicone wound contact layer further enhances its strong wound care portfolio.

Manufactured using a highly conformable material,  coated with low tack silicone gel, the SWCL gently covers the wound bed or damaged skin providing a permeable protective layer.

When used in conjunction with a secondary dressing, the optimum diameter apertures allow exudate to pass freely helping to minimise the risk of maceration whilst restricting the formation of capillary loops through the dressing. The apertures also enable antimicrobials to be transferred directly to the wound bed without having to remove the dressing.

The SWCL can be left in place for up to 7 days, minimising disturbance to the wound bed and newly granulated tissue and can be used in conjunction with NPWT.
